Didier Descamps is one of only five coaches to have won a World Cup and also finished as runner-up in the tournament.
Didier Descamps extended his contract as coach of the French national team until June 2026 and is expected to remain in his job as coach of his country's team in the World Cup for the fourth time.



Descamps led France to win the 2018 World Cup and to 2022 final in Qatar, which they lost to Argentina.

Since the 54-year-old former Chelsea midfielder took charge of the team in 2012, France also reached the quarter-finals of 2014 World Cup and the final of Euro 2016.

Descamps achieved 89 wins, 28 draws, and 22 losses out of 139 matches he played as coach of the French national team.

The French Football Federation said that assistant coach Guy Stephaney, goalkeeper coach Franck Arviat and physical coach Cyril Moen will also remain in their positions on the national team.
