Lamborghini Aventador SVJ review
this is the Lamborghini Aventador SV and it's a little bit like an academic you see with academics the more
letters you have after your name the more important you are I'm going to
give you a thorough review, and to do that I'm going to talk you around the
outside of the inside tell you about the upgrades you get with this. svj over
normal Aventador S I'm going to take it for a drive I'm going to do a brake test
in it and of course, I'm going to launch it to see how quick it is from north 60
miles an hour and over the standing quarter mile now if you like this kind of
cars make sure you. review by talking about the design so the normal Lamborghini Aventador is a crazy-looking car to start with but this SVG just takes things
to another level and most of the design changes are to do with aero such as
this huge rear wing. the engine cover is slatted in a certain way to feed
the air to this huge rear wing there's a massive rear diffuser as well so this
is all carbon fiber also I like the exhaust pipes so they're like those on the
huracanperformante so they exit from the middle rather than being lowered down
like on the standard car and no matter where you look here all the vents are
real look huge vents there for the big rear radiators I mean it's just a crazy
crazy looking car. here from the side, you can really appreciate just how low to
the ground. this Lamborghini Aventador is and being a v12 it gets the scissor
doors yes now the svj has some upgrades over the normal Aventador so this whole
area here this air intake is slightly redesigned. for improved airflow you've
obviously got your svj stickers as you say badging it seems like a sticker to me
then down the side this is slightly redesigned as well and you've got unique
alloy wheels 20 inches at the front 21s at the back and they're interlocking so you can change them quickly when you pull into the pits here at the front
the svj looks even more aggressive. then the normal Aventador it's got a completely
new front bumper and look we've got carbon fiber here there are vents here vents more vents for improving the airflow. and look at this Allah now that doesn't refer to a god or anything. although it's slightly god-like in the way it works because it
actually means aerodynamic Lamborghini ativa and it, stands for active
aerodynamics so you've got these flaps here which can open or close depending
on whether you want more downforce or less drag you know it all relates to the
speed that you're going now I'm going to give you another translation as well
svj so it's super Veloce which means super fast and jay refers to a racing
category in the fia or something like that so it's reserved for
Lamborghini's most high-performance racing focused cars there you go are
looking at one of the main reasons to buy a Lamborghini Aventador it's 6.5liter
naturally aspirated v12 and the standard car it puts out 730 horsepower here in the svj you have 770hp and 720-newton meters of torque look atthis you
got the firing order there one twelve four nine two eleven six seven three ten
five eight gives it a unique sound so shall we experience it go on.

can cut it youcan cut itotherwise no one will hear me now thisengine is mated
to a seven-speed singleclutch robotized manual gearbox but itdoes have launch
control solet's use itnow i'm going to launch this card to seehow quick it is a

need to look atit's a good thing that a car with thismuch performance has some
serious brakeson it so the svj gets carbon ceramics asstandard you've got 400
millimeter discsat the front gripped by six pistoncalipers 380 millimeters at
the backequipped by four piston calipers so alsogot special pirelli p0 corsa
tyres andthe tyres at the back the cross section355 millimeters now how will
that affectthe braking performance actually beforewe do that i've got a
question for youwhy is it the time manufacturers do thecross section in
millimeters 355 butthey actually do the diameter in inchesgodwhy is thatanyway
let's do that brake testall right gonna do a brake test from 70miles an hour
full emergency stop let'sdo it here we go how long will it taketo stop let's
find out now[Music]godmy neck hurts okay look it stopped from70 in 42 meters
that's very very goodand it really felt like as well becausei think i got
whiplash it's a risk ofdoing this job you see you know it'svery very
dangerousthe svj has a few suspension changesover the standard aventador so theanti-roll
bars are 50 stiffer also theactive dampers which let you choosebetween a softer
and harder setting havebeen recalibrated for a more sportydrive than what the
axle was all aboutthis car has variable ratio steeringwhich is designed to make
it feelresponsive without being twitchy at highspeeds you also get rear wheel
steeringso the rear wheels will turn the samedirection as the fronts when
you'regoing quicker to help the car turn intoa corner whereas when you're
goingslowly they turn in the oppositedirection a bit like a forklift truck
tohelp make it a bit more maneuverable andthe rear wheel string on the svj
istweaked to work with the active aero tomake it even more dynamic this car has
alimited slip differential on the rearaxle for better corner exiting
tractionalso the four-wheel drive system hasbeen tweaked slightly for this svj
soyou now have three percent more torquegoing to the back wheels but you
canreally feel that let's find out let'stake it for a drive let's
experiencethis aventador svjoh my godobviously that engine dominates thewhole
experience i remember driving justthe standard aventador and it felt
morecumbersome and leading footedthan this thing the steering is supersharp
actually the agility as well theway it turns in it's quite remarkablefor such a
big car like this oh my goshthe rear wheel steering is definitelyhelpingand the
suspension changes and upgradesfor the svjthis is a visceral experience
thoughit's our relaxing drivewow[Music]those gear changes downshifts are
goodthe upshifts can be a bit jerky there'sa little bit of a knack to it you
sortof want to lift off when you're changingso i'm accelerating[Music]hey you
can smooth them out otherwiseyou're not jerking about the blades atthe root
like thatwhoai mean such a thing this my goodnesswowwhat are you hanging around
this thingoh it's got the performance it's got thegripit's surprisingly agile
it does movearound a bit underneath you it feels alot less inert than a normal
aventadorit's so playful yet you still got thatbrilliant traction from the
four-wheeldrive systemloads of grip from those huge tires andall the time
you're being serenaded bythat beautiful beautiful enginesometimes though when
you're not hooningit you're just going to want to cruisearound it's going to
put into stradawhich i believe is italian for street ifit's wrong tell me in
the comments okayso it's going to do its own thing nowit's still an event you
do pick up thebumps in the road but they're notterrible and these seatsthey're
actually pretty comfy i coulddefinitely do some miles in it let's putit into
automatic mode for the gearboxas well for just cruising around it'sfine the
only major problems are justthe sheer size of it it's super wide andthen
there's the visibility which isreally awful especially at that backwindow but i
can live with it it's comfyenough it's not too intrusive it's nottoo hard work
what i thinkthis lamborghini feels like a propersupercar here on the inside
you've gotthis massive expansive dash loads oftexture to it it's all very
angled ahuge center console separating you fromyour passenger you're sitting on
thefloor almost and look at this thislittle red cover for the start buttonit's
like the cover you'd have on themissile launcher on a fighter jet i meanyou
really do feel like you're in acockpit right here it's lovely steeringwheel
it's got quite a sensitivity tothis car i love the huge gear shifterpaddles as
well your aluminium pedals ilike the way you open the door so youpress this
button here and it justlowers the window slightly and then youpull that one and
push the door up andthis is handyhandlefor shutting it as well now this svjgets
loads of extra carbon fiber aboutthe place there's alcantara everywherewhite
stitching white piping morealcantara on the roof lining and morewhite piping
and some leather here aswell best bit svj seats like you've gotsvj logo on them
there they're carbonfiber backed and they are really comfyyou got alcantara on
the steering wheelas well and the dead ahead marker on itit's a really nice
place to see itreally is but it's not that practicalthere is no glove boxthere
are no door binsi suppose when you open the door andthings will drop outanyway
there are no cup holders there'sno excuse for that i mean where you'resupposed
to put your coffee the onlystorage area i've found is this littlenet behind
here that's it oh and there'sa place here for your mobile phone letyou put your
mobile phone in there lookthey're my big mobile phone look lookthis onewon't
fitmaybe it'll fit if i open it like thatthere we go yeah that might fit how
doyou fit quite fitfitit fits yeah but stillthat's a lotand that brings onto
five annoyingthings about this carthe only luggage space you have on thiscar is
this front boot and its capacityis 140 liters which is less than half ofthat of
a volkswagen polo and i'llillustratejust how small it is because being
anitalian car you thinkyou'll be able to fit a human body inhere if you needed
to but can you let'sfind out with this shot with a shot canyou put a human body
in here no no no nono no no you won't fitall the graphics on the digital
driver'sdisplay aren't the sharpest they'reactually all right however those on
thecentral infotainment system are reallywashed out and blocking i mean check
outsatellite navigation and so slow torespond look at this that's because
thissystem i'm sure it's from the previousprevious generation audi a6
becauseobviously audi owned lamborghini andthis car was first launched in 2011
theoriginal aventador and they didn't seemto have updated the main
infotainmentsystemwith the car like this you're gonna wantto be able to show
people the enginebecause it's a masterpiece howevergetting at it is a bit of a
plava youneed two keys and two people look andyou've got to get the keys the
right wayaround otherwise they won't work in theopposite lock so put the key in
thereopen this hatchsee just find it difficult you're righti'm struggling are
you under pressurethere we go it's all right press thisbutton go on that's it
and try not tobreak itthen you lift this up now you've got itreleasedand
carefully does itthere you go that's rightand you need to find somewhere soft
toput it so yeah you guys leave it on thegrass and now we can look at the
enginefinally actually guys can you put itback on i want to just do that
takeagaini'm only joking you always end upgetting stones collecting in these
sideskirts got a few here already and that'sjust from a few miles of driving
alsoyou get leaves and twigs and road grimegathering in this radiator duct
herethen together you have to remove thiswhole panel to be able to clean it
alloutthe angle of the windscreen means thatyou get the dash reflecting it
quitebadly it's really quite noticeable ifthe sun is strong in fact you'll be
sobad you can barely see out which isn'tgreat in a car this quickit's not all
negative though here's fivegood things about this carthis car is almost five
meters long yeahthanks to that rear wheel steering it'sgot the turning circle
of a volkswagengolfthis plaque here shows that this car isone of 900 and
because the svj is alimited run car it should hold its valuewell which is handy
when the startingprice is 360 000 pounds now if you'rethinking about buying or

veryclever the use of various bits of carbonfiber and common ceramic brakes
helpreduce the weight of the normalaventador by 50 kilos so this thingweighs in
at1525 kilogramsthe titanium exhaust has reduced backpressure and when you
combine that witha lightweight flywheel you get an enginethat can rev quicker
than in the normalaventador and in case you're wonderingthis car's top speed is
over219 miles an hourthis big bad lambo especially naught 60in 2.8 seconds but
what will it do i'mgoing to use my specialist timing gearhere measure iti know
these launch in such a brutal wayi feel so bad for the mechanics on thecar
because it just drops its clutch andyeah let's see what happens let's do iti
can't figure out how to do itcorsa escoff there we gonow let's do it[Music]wow
the gear changes3.07 what's the quarter mileten pointeightit was a bit of a
stuttery launch ohbut it's so so bad for the carthat single clutch dropped the
wheelsspin a bit and depending on yourtraction levels that's your two
tenthsright there do i think you can do 2.8yes it can if you get a slightly
betterlaunch but i'm not doing it againbecause i just have too much
mechanicalsympathy now electric cars the way theylaunch and push it back in
your seat isincredible but there's something aboutthis the way all that energy
just goesto the drive train the way you get thosejolts when it changes gearthe
noise thatof the engine oh it's just so much andyour senses struggle to just
take it allin that it all just becomes a bit of ablur nowif you want to
seeanother car actually launch quicker thanthispull into there click in the top

should youavoid it should you consider it shouldyou shortlist it or should you
